FAQs

We get asked lots of questions about the house and property. If you don't find an answer to what you're looking for here, contact us!

Can I swim in the pond?

Swimming in the pond is for the adventurous spirit. Our spring-fed pond is home to a large variety of wildlife. If you do go for a dip, you will have friends with you. There is also a buildup of pond-muck and a healthy supply of water weeds. We recommend taking the raft out and jumping in where it's deeper if you'd like to cool off.

Can I skate on the pond in the winter?

Unfortunately, no. Please do not attempt to skate or walk on the pond in the winter. Because this is a spring fed pond, water is constantly running year round. While it may look solid, ice-thickness varies drastically even from one small area to the next. The deer often walk across the pond, but that does not mean it is safe for humans to do so.

3

Can my dog (or other pet) join me?

We have a no pet policy due to allergies in our family. We ask that you please arrange alternate care for your pets during your stay.

4

Are bedding & linens provided?

Yes! We provide bedding and linens. There are extras located in our linen cupboard should you need extra blankets. Towels are provided. The kitchen is equipped with tea towels, dish cloths, etc. It helps us a bunch if you put all used linens in the bahtubtub before checking-out so they can be washed.

5

Is there a shower?

Yes! Our tub room features a 5-star showering experience.

6

Can I drink the tap water?

Yes! Our water comes from our own well and has been tested to be safe for drinking. (We think it's some of the best tasting water on the planet!)

7

Is wood provided for the wood stove?

Yes! There is a wood box on the deck that slides out to allow access to the wood from inside, or double opening doors to access and refill from outside. If the wood box becomes empty, it can be refilled with wood from under the deck.

8

Can I bring my ATV or snowmobile?

Yes! There are many trails and places to ride. A map will be provided to you after your booking is complete. Please stay on the trails, avoid muddy areas, and respect the "no trespassing" signage on neighbouring properties. We'd like to keep our trails nice & available for everyone!

9

What are the trails like?

Most of the trails are well groomed and easy to follow. An ATV can fit down most. Along the road-right that borders the west side of the property there are some impassible places due to standing water and a broken bridge. See our detailed maps for more info.

10

Can I hunt on the property?

Yes--however, hunting is regulated in our county. Our Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) for the area is 85B. Please visit Ontario's Hunting Regulations Summary website for information on when the various seasons for bows, shotguns, & muzzle-loading guns occur.
